Our Practices
It is the conviction of the Batesville Christian Church that the Word of God is to be our only foundation for all we believe and practice. We do not adhere to any denominational creed or confession, but only to the teachings of Scripture. We observe the weekly observance of the Lord's Supper.
Weekly Observance of the Lord's Supper
What is the Lord's Supper? It is a memorial commemorating the sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross for our sins
(1 Corinthians 11:23-27). The grape juice represents His blood and the unleavened bread represents His body. Continually remembering His sacrifice in this way reminds us of His love, of the price He paid for our sins, and of His promise to return (Matthew 26:29).
Why once a week? While the argument can be made that the early Christians observed the Lord's Supper more than once a week, it is clear they observed it at least once a week on the first day of the week (Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 20:7).
